2009 Releases are ready

Coffee Bean Records 2009 releases Al's Casino by Phil Graham Band and Stitches Naomi Sunderland will soon be available internationally from ITunes, CD Baby, Napster, and all other major digital outlets. The CDs are pressed, the barcodes are coded, all we are waiting on now is the postman!

Promo copies of 2009 releases available now

Coffee Shops and Radio Stations around the world feel free to contact us to request free promo copies of Al's Casino and Stitches. The promo pack includes the full CD versions of all 2009 releases with Coffee Bean postcards, artist bios, and media releases. Our sole aim is to get original indie music into places that people can listen to it. No beans attached!

Sparkley quirky beany new talent - Vicki Vanderent

Coffee Bean Records collectivite Vicki Vanderent's  debut album is currently in its final brewing stages in the Coffee Bean Studios. Vanderent's music is as emotionally endearing as it is comical and quirky. Destined to be a great Australian debut. Watch out for more information and samples in 2010.

Renewed focus on coffee bean model

The coffee bean local approach has worked well in test sites at Bulimba, QLD and Fitzroy, VIC, Canada, UK, and USA. We'd like to say a special thankyou to all of the coffee houses, bookstores, bars, and restaurants (see "coffee" page on this site) who have supported the Coffee Bean Records Independent Music Collective by playing and promoting our music to their patrons.

We will be working with our existing partners and supporters to promote the 2008 releases later this year. Contact us today if you are interested in playing, selling, or supporting our music.

The Coffee Bean Records studios are frothin with two new releases on the way. New releases by Phil Graham Band and Naomi Sunderland are due out in 2009. Watch this space for free downloads and release info.

Coffee Bean North America

Coffee Bean's North America rep Greg Hoyle is heading down under in November to meet with the local co-op of coffee bean musicians and producers. This is an big development for Coffee Bean and will mean a renewed 'on the ground' effort to get local Brisbane music onto the international scene. Go you good thing!

Coffee Bean Records Showcase, Brisbane Square Library Sunday 30 September 2007 _ 12:00 - 2:30 pm

Naomi Sunderland and the Phil Graham Band will perform songs from Coffee Bean Records 2007 releases Red Dirt Road and Reunion, and select items from forthcoming 2008 releases as part of the Brisbane Square Library's Sunday Acoustics program. The showcase will feature a great lineup of musicians including: John Barns, Les Foyle, Tim Gaze, and Peter Willersdorf. Come along and check out this great venue.

Basics of home recording workshop, Brisbane Square Library, Sunday 30 September, 2007_10:00 - 11:30 am

Phil Graham and Tim Gaze will run the second in a series of two workshops at the Brisbane Square Library on Sunday 30 September from 10:00 - 11:30 am. This workshop will provide beginner to intermediate level info on how to set up and record music at home. Please note: you will need to register to participate in this free workshop. Tim Gaze and Phil Graham songwriting workshop and performance Sunday 26 August 2007

Tim Gaze and Phil Graham are running a songwriting workshop at the new Brisbane Square Library next Sunday morning 26th August 2007 as part of the Library's "Acoustics on Sundays" program. The workshop will be followed by live lunchtime performances in the centre of the Library by Tim Gaze, Phil Graham, and other musicians.

Coffee Bean Records will also run a "Coffee Bean Showcase" on Sunday 30 September as part of the Sunday Acoustics Program. The session will feature live performances by Naomi Sunderland and the Phil Graham Band. Phil and Tim will also run a Basics of Home Recording Workshop on that day.

We've just launched our releases by Phil Graham Band and Naomi Sunderland on Amie Street, the latest and greatest online forum for selling and sharing independent music. It's a really different way of doing things there. People need to really like your music to review it and recommend it to others - they actually have to pay to do so (!). Phil Graham Band releases ‘Reunion’

After 25 years of performing and recording “other people’s” music, Brisbane-based singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist Phil Graham releases Reunion this January. A tasteful blend of blues, folk, jazz, and classical influences, Reunion features performances by some of Australia’s finest musicians, including Les Foyle, Tim Gaze, Steve Roy, and Peter (Willy) Willersdorf. These players have for decades been “behind the scenes” for many great Australian artists. The Reunion happened when the group got together in early 2006.

New album ‘Red Dirt Road’ has new folk sound

Naomi Sunderland’s debut album, Red Dirt Road is a delicate and powerful album that combines all the elements of the “new folk” movement emerging in Brisbane. Sunderland’s songwriting and performance style is a unique fusion of folk, pop, jazz, and country that is both insightful and inspiring. Influences ranging from Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Tori Amos, Everything But The Girl and James Taylor show throughout the album. It is an album that provides “music to nourish the soul”.
